I have decided that I am never, ever going to write a fanfiction with an original character in it.

You see, in almost every single fanfiction containing an OC I have ever read on teh internets (or occasionally IRL. Twilight, anybody?) the main female character is a boring, weak willed self-insert of the writer herself. Maybe himself, but it doesn't matter. Point is, some of the authors of these things are are actually quite good at writing. And some of them aren't.

Anyway, I'm reading these stories, and wondering if this whole 'insert a glorified, stunningly beautiful, eyes that change colour, hair-that-takes-more-than-three-words-to-describe version of yourself that will automatically master anything they try with ease and with whom the main character falls instantly in love with' thing is actually some kind of illness that all writers attempting to write a fanfiction with an OC in it will, at some point, contract.

For the same reasons, I am hesitant to write original fiction. I do not want to end up like Stephenie Meyer and her 'Twilight' series, which is basically the equivalent of a four-year-old's crayon scribblings. Also, Bella is a shallow, two-timing bitch. And a self-insert.

Buuut, then again, I kinda want to put an end to this VICIOUS VICIOUS CYCLE and write a story with a well-established character in it.

Oh, I am so conflicted! Whatever shall I do?
